Kovačević: The main "terrorist" in BiH is the government

The main culprits for the murder of two soldiers last night in Rajlovac are the politicians of Bosnia and Herzegovina, because they appoint the heads of police and security agencies in the country based on party criteria, not on the expertise of these people, warned associate professor at the Faculty of Criminal Justice, Criminology and Security Studies in Sarajevo, Dr. Goran Kovačević.

Last night, a man killed two soldiers of the Armed Forces of BiH in the Sarajevo settlement of Rajlovac, after which he committed suicide in a house in the neighboring settlement.

Police officials still cannot say whether terrorism occurred in Sarajevo or not.

- For me, it is more important now to ask who the terrorist is in BiH. I think the main terrorist in the country is the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina, because it allows suspicious people to walk the streets unhindered - said Kovačević. He believes that society must now put pressure on the government, which will appoint experts to the leading positions of security and police agencies in BiH and make these institutions independent.

Kovačević also adds that the laws regarding the possession of weapons in BiH must be stricter. Penalties for possessing illegal weapons in BiH, according to Kovačević, must be at least three years in prison, regardless of the type of weapon, writes Patria.
