Kovač refused to accept protest note from Serbia: Inflation of notes creates chaos

The Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent a note to Croatia on Friday due to the burning of the Serbian flag in Knin during the celebration of Operation Storm, calling it a "vandal act" and calling for the perpetrators to be punished.

This is the fifth protest note that the authorities in Belgrade have sent to Zagreb in the last ten days, which have in common that they accuse Croatia of rehabilitating the Ustasha movement, glorifying convicted terrorists, and for the decisions of Croatian courts "aimed against the Serbian people".

The police announced that they had arrested a 27-year-old and a 44-year-old for burning the Serbian flag.

Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Miro Kovač said that the ministry was aware of the note sent by fax, but refused to officially accept it because "the inflation of notes creates chaos".

- This is clearly Serbia's strategy, which wants to create the impression that Croatia lacks credibility in terms of the rule of law. We are a credible country, and let Serbia show that it is credible - Kovač told reporters in Knin.

- Let them not divert attention from their obligations, let them fulfill them, especially in the area of justice, in the context of negotiations on EU membership, let them deal with themselves and leave us alone - emphasized the head of Croatian diplomacy.

According to him, Croatia has shown that it is a rule of law, and "let Serbia take care of itself and cooperate with the Hague Tribunal".
