Kotor Varoš: Parents of Bosniak children fined 100 KM for children's absence from classes

The Basic Court in Kotor Varoš has issued the first ruling following a lawsuit filed by the "Sveti Sava" Primary School against parents from Vrbanjci whose children have not attended classes since the beginning of the 2013/2014 school year, ATV reports, as conveyed by the BH News Agency Patria.

The court decided that the parents, whose children did not attend classes while they were demanding the introduction of a national group of subjects, are guilty and must pay a fine.

According to the delivered ruling, one of the parents from Kotor Varoš is obliged to pay a fine of 100 KM. The decision was justified by the fact that the children did not start attending classes even after the school warned the parents. In that case, as stated in the ruling, the school is obliged to inform the competent authorities and initiate proceedings before the competent court.

Parents of Bosniak children from Vrbanjci state that the school has abused the court and used it for final pressure on the parents.

They reiterate that their children still do not have the right to a national group of subjects and say that the ruling of the Basic Court is another blow to them.
