Kosovo Police arrested two men in two separate actions on suspicion of recruiting fighters and collecting money for the Islamic State, the Kosovo Police announced on Wednesday, reports the Patria News Agency.
One suspect, identified only as F.R., financed many young people from Kosovo to join the Islamic State, and some of them have died. He was arrested near the center of Pristina.
Police conducted an operation on Tuesday in a house in Prizren, about 80 kilometers from Pristina, arresting and later releasing another man for financing two Islamic State supporters who were arrested in December before they managed to leave Kosovo.
Police estimate that about 300 people from Kosovo have joined the Islamic State, and more than 50 have died. More than 100 people have been arrested or are under investigation. Under a new law, which provides for up to 15 years in prison for participating in foreign wars, a Kosovo court last week sentenced a man who joined the Islamic State to three years in prison, writes Index.
