Košarac on 'Indi' operation: Insist on lawful conduct of border veterinary inspectors

(Patria) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Staša Košarac welcomed the operation of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) codenamed 'Indi', in which three border veterinary inspectors of the Veterinary Office of BiH were arrested for abuse of official position and authority, and for accepting gifts and other benefits. 

'After the Veterinary Office of BiH informed me about indications that pointed to unlawful conduct by three veterinary inspectors, I immediately requested that the said information be forwarded to the SIPA Agency for further action, which was done,' stated Minister Košarac. 

He expressed gratitude for the prompt action of the investigative bodies of the SIPA Agency in the mentioned case. 

'If it is proven that the three suspected veterinary inspectors are guilty of the offenses they are charged with, I expect that they will be prevented from continuing their engagement in the Veterinary Office of BiH. The policy I advocate for is the decisive respect for legal regulations and zero tolerance towards civil servants for whom responsibility for unlawful conduct is established, because it is completely unacceptable for those accused of abuse of official position and corruption to work in public service,' Minister Košarac said. 

Given the necessity of ensuring the smooth operation of the border crossing where the said persons previously performed control duties, Minister Košarac ordered the Veterinary Office of BiH to send other veterinary inspectors to their workplaces so that there would be no delays in foreign trade.
