(Patria) - Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations of BiH Staša Košarac announced that answers to additional questions from the action plan regarding the fulfillment of recommendations from the report of the Directorate for Health and Food Safety on the possibility of exporting red meat from BiH to the EU market have been submitted to the European Commission.
'The Ministry, in cooperation with the Veterinary Office of BiH and the entity ministries of agriculture, has harmonized the answers, which primarily relate to animal marking, which was one of the main recommendations of the EU audit team,' said Minister Košarac.
He expressed his expectation that the European Commission will accept the supplemented action plan for the export of red meat from BiH to the EU market as soon as possible.
Minister Košarac added that the mentioned action plan clearly defines the activities, responsible parties, and deadlines for their implementation.
'We hope that the European Commission will give the green light for the start of the action plan's implementation, which will be an additional incentive and help to domestic agricultural producers,' stated Minister Košarac.
He emphasized that the EU is an important foreign trade partner for BiH, and that the export of red meat to this market would significantly contribute to the increase of overall foreign trade with the EU.
