(Patria) - Twitter usage in the US has fallen by more than a fifth since Elon Musk bought it and renamed it X, according to data from app tracking company Sensor Tower, writes The Guardian.
In early February 2024, the number of daily users of this social network in America fell by 23 percent compared to November 2022, immediately after Musk completed his takeover.
All other major social networks experienced a decrease in the same period, but none recorded a user drop anywhere near as significant as X.
The closest is TikTok, which fell by just under 10 percent, while Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat had user drops of less than five percent, according to data first published by NBC News.
Globally, X fared slightly better, losing 15 percent of its users and shrinking to 174 million daily active users, according to Sensor Tower data.
The analytics company does not track users who visit the social network via the web, nor those who use desktop applications, but only those who use mobile applications.
Although X did not respond to The Guardian's request for comment, the company implicitly rejected Sensor Tower's claims in a public statement.
In an unsigned message, it was stated that "250 million people use X daily", that 550 million visit it every month, and that "average daily time spent on the platform" and "minutes of daily active users" have increased compared to last year.
