Korićanske stijene: 23rd anniversary of the brutal murder of 200 Bosniaks and Croats

The Association of Camp Survivors in Bosnia and Herzegovina will mark on August 21 the suffering of about 200 non-Serb prisoners from Prijedor, who were brutally liquidated and thrown into a ravine about 300 meters deep at the Korićanske stijene site on Mount Vlašić in 1992, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria (NAP).

A convoy with about 1,200 captured Bosniaks and Croats from the Prijedor camps headed towards Travnik, but about 200 of them were liquidated by members of the intervention squad under the command of Simo Drljača, the chief of the Prijedor police, and thrown into deep ravines at Korićanske stijene.

The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under command responsibility, sentenced Prijedor police officer Dušan Janković to 21 years in prison for these crimes. It was established that he, as the then commander of the Prijedor police station, missed the opportunity to prevent the murders at Korićanske stijene.

In the same trial, Zoran Babić was sentenced to 22 years in prison, Milorad Škrbić to 21, and Željko Stojnić to 15 years in prison as perpetrators of these crimes.

Other members of the intervention squad of the Prijedor police were also tried for the crimes at Korićanske stijene, and some confessed to the crime, such as Ljubiša Četić.
