Congressmen divided in reactions after US attack on Iran

(Patria) - US representatives in Congress reacted differently after US President Donald Trump announced tonight that the US had successfully completed an attack on three nuclear facilities in Iran.

Republican Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky addressed X saying: "This is not constitutional."

Democratic Representative Sara Jacobs of California had a similar stance, saying on X: "Trump's attacks on Iran are not only unconstitutional, but represent an escalation that risks dragging the US into another endless and deadly war."

Meanwhile, several Republicans supported the president.

Representative Andy Harris of Maryland called the military action "peace through strength."

"Iran with nuclear weapons threatens America, Israel, and the entire free world," Harris said in a post on X. "The US has taken decisive measures to destroy Iran's nuclear capability, protecting American lives, our allies, and global stability."

Representative Don Bacon of Nebraska similarly warned of the threats of Iran possessing nuclear weapons.

"President Trump is protecting America," Bacon said in a social media post.

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said the attack on nuclear facilities "was the right decision."

"Bravo, President Donald Trump," Graham continued in a post on X. "To my fellow citizens: We have the best air force in the world. That makes me very proud."

Senator John Cornyn of Texas also praised Trump's leadership.

"President Trump made a brave and correct decision to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat. God bless the USA," Cornyn wrote on X. "Thank you to our extraordinary military and our unwavering @POTUS. This is what leadership on the world stage looks like."

Democratic Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, who has occasionally clashed with his party over Israel's war against Hamas, also praised the attack as "the right move."

"As I have long argued, this was the right move by the president. Iran is the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities. I am grateful and salute the best military in the world," Fetterman said in a post on X.
