SDA Congress to consider Resolutions on NATO, Rule of Law, Education, Demographics...

SARAJEVO, (Patria) – On Saturday, September 14, the 7th Congress of the Party of Democratic Action will be held in the Zetra hall, where the SDA president will be elected. The only candidate is the current president Bakir Izetbegović. 

According to the agenda, there will be 12 introductory presentations, including on the work of SDA between congresses, the Proposal of the SDA Statute, the Proposal of the Resolution on the principles and goals of foreign policy, EU and NATO integration, the Proposal of the Resolution on the rule of law, security and defense. The Proposal of the Resolution on constitutional reform and election legislation, the Proposal of the Resolution on demographic and family protection policy, and the Proposal of the Program Declaration will be considered. 

In addition to electing the SDA president, members of the Main Board, party vice-presidents, and the Ethics and Supervisory Board will also be elected.

1,340 delegates will participate in the 7th SDA Congress, and given that there is only one candidate, the Statute stipulates that the vote will be public. 

Amendments to the Statute stipulate a term limit of three consecutive terms and holding multiple positions within the party. Thus, one person will be able to hold a maximum of two positions. A larger number of women in the Party Presidency and Main Board is also foreseen, as well as opening SDA to members of other constituent peoples, and rejuvenating the party leadership.
