Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra to open Baščaršija Nights

The Baščaršija Nights Festival celebrates its twentieth anniversary this year, and in line with that, the official opening of the Festival will be held on July 1st, with a concert by the Sarajevo Philharmonic Orchestra, writes the BH News Agency Patria.

The concert will be held at the Sarajevo City Hall starting at 9:30 PM. Goran Rašić, a member of the organizing committee, stated that the Festival has become a brand and a recognizable summer festival in BiH and the region over the past 20 years.

- It is a great success for something to last for 20 years. We thank the citizens of Sarajevo, as well as other audiences who regularly attend the Festival and have greatly contributed to it becoming a brand. For 20 years, the Festival has been striving to enrich the cultural content of Sarajevo and to provide our fellow citizens and tourists with the opportunity to attend programs every evening - said Rašić.

Dževad Šabanagić, president of the Festival's organizing committee, stated that despite the difficult financial situation, the Festival has managed to be held, and will bring 29 diverse programs to us in the upcoming month of July.

Art exhibitions, plays, numerous concerts, and a folklore festival are just some of what the Baščaršija Nights Festival offers to the public this year.

As part of the Festival, the 17th International Folklore Festival will be held, featuring ensembles from Colombia, Northern Cyprus, Croatia, Slovakia, and BiH.

In cooperation with the Turkish Embassy and the Yunus Emre Institute, Kolektif Istanbul and Ilhan Ershin's Istanbul Sessions will present traditional Turkish music.

Within the Festival, the premiere of the famous comedy "A Flea in Her Ear" directed by Admir Glamočak will be held. In addition, the audience will be able to enjoy the most famous monodramas by Josip Pejaković.

The closing of the Festival is planned with a concert by the band Regina, who will mark their 25th anniversary with this concert, and it will be held on July 31st on the BBI Center plateau starting at 9 PM.
