Konaković: I was bothered by the SDA defending those whose crimes I proved

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton Elmedin Konaković confirmed tonight on Face TV that he has made a decision to leave the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and that several representatives in the Assembly of Sarajevo Canton have also left the party's club.

He has not yet officially announced the decision to resign to the party bodies. 

Konaković explained his move as his fight against a system that does not function and that harms society and the state.

"I know and responsibly claim that what they are doing is to the detriment of society, to the detriment of the state we defended. Public property cannot be managed as one's own, extracting resources from it and hiring people. This country did not deserve that," said Konaković, adding that some SDA cadres are acting contrary to what the first SDA president Alija Izetbegović advocated.

He said that what bothered him most in the SDA was that the party defends those he himself caught in wrongdoing.

"I received an order to protect those whose crimes I proved," said Konaković. On the other hand, he pointed out, he found himself in a situation where he had to justify good relations with the opposition, even though the opposition had very constructive proposals that would improve the quality of life for all citizens.

Regarding the resignation from the position of Prime Minister of Sarajevo Canton, Konaković said he will not resign, but if there is political will, 18 representatives can remove the prime minister.

Konaković continues his political career with a group of other people, as part of A-SDA or even as a third political option, about which he did not want to speak.
