Konaković: Currently 54 BiH citizens in Gaza awaiting evacuation

(Patria) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of BiH Elmedin Konaković held a press conference this evening regarding his participation in the Ministerial Conference in Berlin, the visit of the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen, and the measures and activities undertaken by the MFA of BiH concerning the evacuation of BiH citizens from Gaza.

- The MFA immediately formed a Crisis Staff upon the outbreak of this conflict, which works daily, mostly in cooperation with our ambassadors. We currently have 54 people in Gaza awaiting evacuation. Of these, 27 are with relatives.

Egypt and Israel are the countries that decide on the speed and order of evacuation. We are waiting for a signal. According to our information, about 500 people leave Gaza daily - said Konaković, as reported by Faktor.

He also pointed out that there are children who are not registered in our books but have the right to citizenship.

- No one is safe in Gaza. I don't believe there are safe people in Gaza, and I pray to God that nothing happens to anyone, neither to the people from BiH nor to others - said Konaković.

He then commented on the conference in Berlin.

- We returned from Berlin with positive feelings because there are no more dilemmas in this story. It is shown that the EU has opened its doors wide to BiH. The focus is on Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova, as well as the Western Balkan countries.

The EU is showing more seriousness than ever before in its consideration of this region and the listed countries. I think there are no more doubts, the EU has offered a hand, concrete funds, and processes - stated Konaković.

He appealed to politicians, colleagues from the coalition, and the opposition to take this opportunity seriously.

- Let's do what is up to us because we are truly on the verge of a serious development - claims Konaković.

He also commented on an alleged letter from Hamas addressed to him, stating that he had requested an analysis.

- The authenticity of the letter cannot be determined - Konaković emphasized.

He also appealed to journalists not to play with such matters.

- We are traveling to Dubai on Sunday to sign an agreement with the UAE on the abolition of the visa regime for BiH citizens - said Konaković, explaining that the agreement will enter into force one month after signing.
