Annual Platform on Intelligence and Security Policy Finally Adopted, but Not a Word on NATO Integrations!

(Patria) - At the proposal of the Office of the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Annual Platform on Intelligence and Security Policy was adopted, containing guidelines for the work of the Intelligence and Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina for effective action in its areas of operation, with a focus on protecting the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina, its values and interests.

This document emphasizes our country's commitment to the fight against organized crime and all its forms, thereby strengthening Bosnia and Herzegovina's cooperation with the European Union in this area and contributing to regional stability, in accordance with the Stabilisation and Association Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the EU.

Earlier today, the Center for Security Studies announced that the session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CoM BiH) should discuss materials from the Ministry of Defence of Bosnia and Herzegovina (MoD BiH) and the Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina for Cooperation with NATO.

"It will be interesting to see whether the Serbian representatives in the CoM BiH will allow the inclusion of these items on the agenda or will continue to follow Dodik's instructions not to include MoD BiH items on the agenda, just like materials related to NATO integrations," it was stated this morning.

According to the statement from the session of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the material on amending the Decision on the composition of the Commission for Cooperation with NATO was not discussed, and we recall that it had been removed from the agenda several times before.

However, the document Annual Platform on Intelligence and Security Policy for 2024 was included on the agenda, with a delay of several months.

"It remains unclear why the adoption of this document is so delayed, which is already an established negative practice regarding this legal obligation. The Platform defines the basic tasks, goals and priorities for the Intelligence and Security Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (OSA BiH) during the current year. At the same time, it raises an additional question about the basis on which OSA BiH has directed its work so far and whether this could have caused any consequences for the security of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We would note that the document in question was approved by the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and after the consent procedure in the CoM BiH, it must still be approved by the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which will require additional time to become valid.
