(Patria) - The Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected to consider the appointment of the mandate-holder for the new BiH Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto (HDZ), on Wednesday, and a member of the BiH Presidency, Željko Komšić, stated that if this is on the agenda, he will have several questions concerning the NATO path.
Namely, Komšić claims that the coalition agreement of the parties that decided to form a government after the October elections does not specify the issue of BiH's further progress on the path to membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
The agreement was signed by representatives of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ), the Alliance of Independent Social Democrats (SNSD), and a bloc of eight parties comprising the Social Democratic Party (SDP) of BiH, People and Justice, Our Party, Party for BiH, Kasumović Fuad BiH Initiative, Democratic People's Party (PDA), People's European Party (NES), and the Party for New Generations.
"Does this mean that we are giving up on it permanently or temporarily, and what will be the new mandate-holder's stance on this issue, and how will the Council of Ministers, which she is expected to lead for the next four years, position itself, as well as whether an increase in the budget, particularly for the defense sector, is planned in that context," Komšić explained.
He expressed his conviction that NATO integration is necessary for Bosnia and Herzegovina as it ensures stability and security and reforms in the long term, which is why he believes it would be detrimental for BiH to halt this path.
Answering journalists' questions about whether he will support Krišto as the mandate-holder, he said that nothing will be a problem for him if he receives, above all, reasonable answers to his questions, and he will decide depending on those answers.
