Komšić: Foreigners are running away from the Zornić ruling, it is important to resolve the blockade of the FBiH Parliament

After the meeting with the US envoy for electoral reform Matthew Palmer, the Chairman of the BiH Presidency and president of the Democratic Front, Željko Komšić, believes that the approach to negotiations is not bad, but that "the devil is in the details". In his opinion, the key problem is the fact that all rulings of the Court of Human Rights are no longer insisted upon, which is a problem in itself.

- The story about the organization of electoral units is not being touched upon before me, which is a circumvention of any reforms. In this way, we would only give opponents of this country a political and legal basis for further division, Komšić pointed out.

He reiterated his stance that he is not optimistic about reaching a final agreement on the election law under these circumstances.

- Mr. Palmer did not bring any paper, no solution, although it can be concluded from the conversation what it is about. It is about deleting the ethnic designation in the election of the members of the Presidency, and the House of Peoples is also the subject of discussion, in order to enable access to this house for those who are not Bosniaks, Serbs or Croats," said Komšić.

His position is that the issue of blocking the work of the FBiH Parliament must also be resolved. Komšić says that the "Zornić" ruling is something that everyone is running away from, but that it should be insisted upon because it is destroying the current system of the state. He says he would like that the most, but he will not get support for it.

The events at the session of the state House of Peoples, where the HDZ joined the attempt to annul the Criminal Code prohibiting the denial of genocide and all war crimes, is only an indication for Komšić of how low politics in BiH can fall.

"The Inzko Law is not directed against anyone, it is a civilizational norm. To be against it means to side with those against whom the law speaks. The HDZ has thus sided with those who committed genocide. Unfortunately or fortunately, the HDZ laid bare its policy yesterday, and it is now clear to everyone," concluded Komšić.
