Komšić: I welcome Schmidt's decision, elections are an opportunity to get rid of HDZ blockades

(Patria) - I welcome the High Representative's decision on financing the 2022 General Elections in Bosnia and Herzegovina, said Željko Komšić, member of the BiH Presidency.

"This decision ultimately represents a victory for the Bosnian political factor, i.e. healthy political options that played a constructive role with international partners during the long political struggle to hold elections that the HDZ tried to block.

It is important that political blackmail was not accepted, where the blocking of the electoral process was used to achieve an anti-European solution to the detriment of the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Holding the October elections is an opportunity for the state political factor to overcome policies of blackmail and blockades through democratic and legal means, so that we do not have similar problems in the future," Komšić said.

We remind you that the High Representative Christian Schmidt imposed a decision today that provides the Central Election Commission with 12.52 million KM for the implementation of the General Elections on October 2. 

The decision takes effect as soon as it is published on the website. The Peace Implementation Council's two-day session also begins today.
