SARAJEVO, (Patria) - BiH Presidency member Željko Komšić confirmed that he spoke with the German Ambassador to BiH Margret Uebber today, but he did not want to discuss the topics of the conversation.
"It was a tête-à-tête conversation, meaning in private, and it is not a practice to disclose such conversations, and I will not do that," Komšić said.
He stated on FTV's Dnevnik that the process of replacing the High Representative requires the consent of all member states of the Peace Implementation Council (PIC).
"Replacing the High Representative is a more difficult political operation. To replace the High Representative, the consent of the PIC and verification at the UN Security Council are needed. How will we get the consent of Russia, which advocates for the complete abolition of the High Representative institution? Does this mean that some trade will be made with Russia at the expense of BiH's interests? I don't think that will happen. Let's leave this and wait for this story about the change of the High Representative; I don't think it will be easy at all, especially convincing Russia to give consent for such a thing, without serious major concessions in BiH and the region. If it happens in a way that involves accommodating and making such major concessions, then it's better not to touch anything at all," Komšić said.
Yesterday, information emerged that Germany and Russia want to replace the High Representative in BiH, Valentin Inzko, and appoint Christian Schmidt from Germany.
