Komšić: If the international community rewards the 'Serbian world' project, the verdict against Stanišić and Simatović will remain a dead letter

SARAJevo, (Patria) - The verdict against Jovica Stanišić and Franko Simatović, former heads of the Serbian DB, is a final legal condemnation of the Greater Serbia project, which was backed by the intelligence structures of neighboring Serbia in the nineties, as well as a verdict against the current so-called 'Serbian world' project, which is also backed by the current intelligence and political structures of Serbia, believes member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Željko Komšić.

- There is no discontinuity between these two structures, and this should be taken into account when considering the current political situation in the Western Balkans, where peace is clearly hanging by a thread, and is most threatened by those who so often talk about the need to preserve peace, about their efforts in that regard. When you look at who talks about it, one gets the impression that there are no greater peacemakers than the proponents of the 'Serbian world'. But that is not the case.

That this is not the case is known even to certain parts of the international community that look favorably upon the 'Serbian world' project, which is merely a continuation of the Greater Serbia project. When I say favorably, I mean their strategic decision to satisfy these same Greater-state aspirations, which have been definitively and finally declared criminal, over the backs of Bosnia and Herzegovina. We have been witnessing this favorability with almost disbelief lately.

Nevertheless, I hope that these particular parts of the international community will not resort to, in essence, politically rewarding the project that has been condemned by the final verdict against Stanišić and Simatović in the future development of political relations in the Western Balkans. Otherwise, this verdict will also remain just a dead letter - Komšić stated.
