Commissioner Selimović denies obstruction of investigation into murder of Sarajevo police officers

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Police Commissioner Nusret Selimović of the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton announced today that on Friday, 5 November, this ministry submitted a supplement to the report against several persons reasonably suspected of being linked to the murder of police officers Adis Šehović and Davor Vujinović on 26 October 2018 in Geteova Street.

Commissioner Selimović stated that from a police perspective, their case has been resolved.

He noted cooperation with SIPA, the Ministry of Interior of Republika Srpska, the Federal Police Administration, and the Intelligence and Security Agency. He also emphasised cooperation with Interpol and police authorities of Serbia, Montenegro, France, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the USA.

Assistance was also provided by embassies in BiH, namely the embassies of the United Kingdom, the USA, and France.

"I reject with disgust the behaviour of individuals who, through the media, disseminate information about an alleged obstruction of the investigation and attempt to discredit me as commissioner, or this institution. We will not allow them attempts to criminalise and drag us into political games," said Selimović.

During searches on 4 November in Pale and East Sarajevo, conducted under the supervision of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office and by order of the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo, automatic weapons were found, but no persons were detained. One of the suspects has been outside BiH for an extended period. Three persons gave statements at SIPA, but there is no further information on this case.
