(Patria) - Commander of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, Brigadier General Matthew Valas, held a series of activities today in the Brčko District and Tuzla aimed at strengthening partnership and building the capacity of institutions in BiH.
Valas attended the celebration of the 26th anniversary of the Brčko District of BiH, with the aim of supporting efforts that make Bosnia and Herzegovina more resilient and secure.
The anniversary celebration was an opportunity to emphasize the multi-ethnic and open character of the District, as the foundation on which stability and prospects for future generations rest.
As part of the visit to Tuzla, Valas met with the Prime Minister of Tuzla Canton (TK) Irfan Halilagić and the Mayor of Tuzla Zijad Lugavić, and on that occasion highlighted the successful cooperation between civilian and military authorities in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
- I firmly believe that it is important to talk to local communities and visit officials in the field. The 5th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of BiH is stationed in TK.
I extend words of gratitude to the local authorities for their constructive engagement and partnership with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina - Valas stated.
These visits are part of the ongoing activities of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo, aimed at strengthening partnership with institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and supporting the implementation of reform processes for the benefit of all BiH citizens.
