NATO Headquarters Commander General Huston: Our Children are the Biggest Reason for Us to Work for a Successful BiH

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Bosnia and Herzegovina, General Robert A. Huston, thanked partners in the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as all international partners who, as he said, remain committed to supporting BiH's path towards Euro-Atlantic integration and the activation of the Membership Action Plan.

"Bosnia and Herzegovina has made significant progress in registering immovable military property as state property," said General Huston during the NATO New Year's reception in Sarajevo.

He recalled that, according to the Ministry of Defense data, more than half of the military locations have been registered to the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the registration of military property to BiH is one of the conditions for activating the MAP for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

General Huston said that the implementation of the Defense Review is progressing well. According to him, the Ministry of Defense is working on improving the defense procurement process as well as better procurement management. He also emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina continues to make a significant contribution to international peace and stability in NATO, European Union, and United Nations operations in Afghanistan and Africa.

"Although small in size, the Armed Forces of BiH have a significant positive impact in these international operations," said General Huston, adding that the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina provide assistance to civil authorities, recalling that the Armed Forces have provided immeasurable support to the citizens of BiH through firefighting, medical evacuation, and engineering works.

"It is a universal desire among all people for their children's lives to be better than their own. Our children are most important to us, they are the reason why all of us work hard, shoulder to shoulder, for a successful and prosperous Bosnia and Herzegovina," concluded General Huston.
