Koldžo visited the Children's House, valuable equipment donated for creative workshops

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Since the Children's House in Grbavica opened in March this year, 6,000 children and visitors have passed through its sections and activities. Various sections have been operating since the first day, which are free thanks to the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo. Today, valuable equipment was also donated for several sections, music, ballet, art, and equipment for young innovators is currently being procured.

The Mayor of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo, Nedžad Koldžo, said that children and parents have opted for certain activities at the Children's House, especially when it comes to artistic genres.

“The equipment will enable the expansion of activities in seven or eight different sections and their operation in line with modern trends. The procurement of equipment for young innovators, worth 40,000 KM, which includes specialized robotics equipment, is currently underway,” said Koldžo.

Some projects have been transferred from the International Center for Children and Youth to the Children's House, as the facility is intended for the youngest age group of children.

“This facility is practically alive all day, and this equipment will increase its capacity, allowing children to come here and pursue their artistic inclinations,” concluded Koldžo.

The director of the Children's House, Zorica Miličević, points out that the most visited sections are those related to extracurricular activities.

“Children have learned a lot here, taking their first steps in robotics, crafting, and the response from both parents and children is enormous. The music workshop started after two months of pop-rock schools, and children have already participated in competitions, even in Supertalent in Croatia. We received equipment for piano lessons, guitar lessons, accordions, and flutes,” said Miličević.

Today's donation of equipment worth 70,000 KM completes the multifunctional creative workshop. Pianos, flutes, guitars, mobile ballet barres, mats, etc. were donated.

“Here, children will learn their first steps in painting, sculpture, scenography, costume design, and graphics. We received a ceramic kiln, a printing press, sculpting stands, and children's easels. The chess club has been operating for three or four months. We also had a play performed on our stage,” said Miličević.

She emphasized that this is a very popular and well-attended space. She invited all parents and children to get involved in the activities.

“Citizens also come here, sit down, and read newspapers. We are open every day from 8 AM to 9 PM.”
