SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The president and vice-president of Our Party, Predrag Kojović and Sabina Ćudić, held a meeting today in Sarajevo with Mel McNulty, political advisor and NATO civilian A6, and Ken Lindsay, advisor for political, parliamentary and administrative affairs at NATO HQ Sarajevo, Our Party stated. Kojović welcomed the signing of the protocol on North Macedonia's accession to NATO and expressed hope that BiH will also soon move towards membership in that military alliance at an accelerated pace.
"The activation of the Action Plan would give new momentum to our membership in the NATO alliance. The entry of Bosnia and Herzegovina into the NATO alliance would not only create prerequisites for stronger economic development of our country but, which is even more important for us, finally put an end to those ideologies in the neighborhood that still dream of redrawing the borders of Bosnia and Herzegovina and violating its political sovereignty within its territory. I deeply believe that BiH's membership in the NATO alliance would finally completely eliminate the territorial pretensions of neighboring countries and internal secessionist policies, thereby leading to relaxation on our political scene and a reduction in nationalist populism," said Kojović.
As stated in the press release of Our Party, the Presidency of BiH will have to accept the offer for the activation of membership, where obstructions are expected from Milorad Dodik, a member of the Presidency from the Serb people, who has repeatedly said that he aligns his stance on NATO with Serbia's stance on that military alliance.
"I think that this process, the process of BiH's entry into the NATO alliance, will no longer be able to be stopped after Wednesday. The guarantee of territorial integrity, stability, and security that comes with NATO membership are certainly in the interest of the majority of BiH citizens who do not want to think about the survival of BiH but about its economic and political progress. Peace and security are invaluable things for all citizens of BiH, and only those who do not understand this can obstruct our path to NATO membership," Kojović concluded.
