SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The race for the "Heart of Sarajevo" on the fifth night of the 28th Sarajevo Film Festival from the main competition program of feature films continues with a film from Ukraine - "Klondike", directed by Maryna Er Gorbach.
The plot of the film, which will have its regional premiere at the National Theatre Sarajevo, focuses on the events in Donetsk, a region in eastern Ukraine.
The film talks about the events of 2014 when Russia attacked Donetsk, and follows the story of a married couple, Irka and Tolik, who are expecting a baby, living in a remote village in Donetsk, not far from the Russian border, around which fighting took place in the early days of the war in Donbas.
Their anticipation of a child is violently interrupted by the downing of flight MH17 not far from their village. Despite the general danger, Irka refuses to leave the village...
Before the screening, the film crew walked the red carpet in front of the National Theatre Sarajevo.
- This is a very important screening because Sarajevo, with the history it cherishes, represents a special city for Ukrainians - emphasized director Gorbach.
The crew of the film "Klondike", who walked the red carpet with the flag of Ukraine, was greeted with applause by the audience.
On the red carpet, posing for numerous media outlets were also: The crew of the film "What's This Country Called Now" from the In Focus program led by Aida Čerkez, members of the competition program jury for documentary films led by program selector Rada Šešić, Alban Ukaj and Alisa Čajić.
