(Patria) - Half of Kyiv's residential buildings, almost 6,000 facilities, are currently without heating due to damage to critical infrastructure in a massive enemy attack, announced Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
He added that disruptions in water supply were also recorded in the city. "Municipal services have launched social institutions, especially hospitals and maternity wards, using mobile boiler rooms. Together with energy workers, they are working to restore electricity and heating supply to the homes of Kyiv residents," Klitschko said.
The mayor stated that the combined attack on Kyiv on the night of January 9 caused the greatest damage to the capital's critical infrastructure. "City services are working in an emergency mode, and the weather conditions in the coming days are forecast to be severe. I appeal to residents who have the opportunity to temporarily leave the city, where there are alternative sources of electricity and heating, to do so," Klitschko added.
Explosions were heard in Kyiv on the evening of January 8, when the Russian Federation attacked the city with drones. In the Desnyansky district, an unmanned aerial vehicle hit the roof of a residential building. Four people were killed in the attack, and power and water outages were recorded in the city and surrounding areas.
Due to damage to the contact network and power outages in the Kyiv region, there are also delays in the movement of some passenger trains. Since the morning of January 9, more than 500,000 consumers in Kyiv and the Kyiv region have been left without electricity after Russian shelling.
