Chinese want to lease land in Bosnia and Herzegovina for agricultural production

Lei Jianzhong, economic and trade counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, met with the President of the Foreign Trade Chamber of Bosnia and Herzegovina (VTK BiH) Nemanja Vasić, and the topic of the meeting was economic cooperation between the two countries, reports the Bosnian news agency Patria.

Economic cooperation between BiH and China is reflected mostly, Jianzhong concluded, through the wood industry, food industry and agriculture sectors.

- There is great interest in exporting wood products, furniture and food products from BiH to China – said Jianzhong.

- Also, there is interest in leasing land in BiH on which agricultural production would be developed – he added.

During the meeting, Jianzhong said that Chinese businessmen are interested in investing in BiH, as evidenced by projects such as the Stanari Thermal Power Plant near Doboj and the construction of Block 7 of the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant, but, due to insufficient information about the potentials that BiH has, investments from that country are still not at the desired level.

Jianzhong and Vasić agreed that BiH will make a list of potential export products from our country, while on the other hand a list of needs of the Chinese market will be provided, which would greatly open the door to new investments from China in BiH, reports NAP.
