Chinese are releasing the electric car BYD Seagull onto the market

(Patria) - There is fierce competition in the small and compact electric car market in China.

Many car manufacturers are already selling or developing new vehicles for this segment, and the BYD Seagull is a serious new competitor.

It is a 5-door, 4-seater car with a modern and sporty design, featuring a large spoiler above the rear window and elegant alloy wheels.

The BYD Seagull is powered by a 75 hp TZ180XSH electric motor located at the front. Its top speed is 130 km/h, while electrical energy is stored in BYD's new (revolutionary) lithium iron phosphate Blade battery, writes Revija HAK.

It has been announced that this battery will not be able to ignite or cause a fire. BYD has not yet announced the range, but it is estimated to be between 250 and 300 kilometers according to the Chinese measurement cycle, CLTC.

This Seagull measures 3780/1715/1540 mm, with a wheelbase of 2500 mm and an unladen weight of a modest 1160 kilograms.

The interior shots highlight two-tone trim in pink and black. Many of these smaller cars are intended for female drivers, which likely explains this color combination, reported Car News China.

The BYD Seagull will arrive on the Chinese car market in the second quarter. The public premiere is scheduled for the Shanghai Auto Show 2023 in April, and most importantly - it will be cheap.

The price will range from 60,000 to 100,000 RMB (8,230 to 13,719 euros), which seems very affordable for what is offered.

It should also be noted that BYD is considering whether to bring the Seagull to Europe and the world, which makes a lot of sense as there are still very few affordable electric cars on markets outside of China.
