(Patria) - Top Serbian officials, led by Aleksandar Vučić, saw off Chinese President Xi Jinping at "Nikola Tesla" Airport in Surčin this evening, at the end of a two-day official visit.
The Chinese President and his wife Peng were seen off by Prime Minister Miloš Vučević, Speaker of the Parliament Ana Brnabić, and Minister of Foreign Affairs Marko Đurić.
Before entering the plane, Xi told Vučić that he was "very satisfied" with the visit and "very grateful and sincerely touched," and that he felt the ties between the two countries were "very strong".
Vučić replied that Serbia would always be a "second home" for him.
"You have paid a great honor to our people and our country, and we will never forget it," Vučić told him.
Earlier today, Vučić and Xi signed a Joint Statement of Serbia and China on deepening and elevating the comprehensive strategic partnership and building a Serbia-China community with a shared future in the new era.
Following the meeting of the two countries' delegations at the "Serbia" Palace, representatives of Serbia and China exchanged 28 cooperation documents in the presence of Vučić and Xi.
Serbian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivica Dačić said that 6,700 police officers were engaged in securing the Chinese President's visit.
From Belgrade, where he arrived yesterday from Paris, Xi is flying to Budapest this evening.
France, Serbia, and Hungary are the only countries Xi visited during his five-day European tour, his first in five years.
