China has decided to end the 'one child' policy and allow couples to have a second child, reported the Washington Post, as carried by the Bosnian news agency Patria.
The decision was made due to economic pressure and an aging population.
This move came after a meeting of the Communist Party leadership, where concern was expressed over the accelerated aging of the population and a shortage of labor force, which could impact the country's economy.
Although details on when the 'two child' policy will begin have not been specified, China introduced the one-child rule in 1980, and had already begun gradually moving away from it in 2013.
