(Patria) - China's special envoy for Eurasian affairs Li Hui will visit Jeddah for international talks on the peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis, the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
- China is willing to work with the international community to continue to play a constructive role in promoting a political solution to the crisis in Ukraine - said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbi, Reuters reports.
Ukrainian and Western diplomats hope that the meeting of national security advisors and other high-ranking officials from around 40 countries in Jeddah this weekend will agree on key principles for a future peace settlement to end Russia's war in Ukraine.
Russia will not attend the meeting.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that he hopes the initiative will lead to a "peace summit" of leaders from around the world this autumn to support principles based on his own 10-point peace formula.
China was invited to the previous round of talks in Copenhagen at the end of June, but did not attend.
