(Patria) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un has accused the United States of escalating tensions and provocations, saying the Korean Peninsula has never faced such risks of nuclear war as it does now, state media KCNA reported on Friday, as cited by Reuters.
In a speech at a weapons exhibition on Thursday in Pyongyang, Kim said he had tried to negotiate with Washington, but the results only highlighted its "aggressive and hostile" policy towards Pyongyang, KCNA reported.
He called for the development and upgrading of weapons and pledged to continue improving
the country's defense capabilities to strengthen its strategic position, it said.
