Kim Jong Un calls for increased shell production

(Patria) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected military-industrial factories, calling on them to expand shell production that meets the needs of modern warfare, Reuters reported.

Kim visited metal pressing and assembly lines on Friday, checked the progress of shell production in the first half of 2025, and proposed new tasks for improvement, KCNA reported.

- If we want to increase the production of new, powerful shells that meet the needs of modern warfare, we must expand and strengthen our production capacities, organize the production process more rationally, and constantly increase the level of unmanned production - Kim said.

In recent months, Kim's public moves have focused on strengthening the military and improving ties with Russia, while North Korean state media have largely remained silent on criticism against South Korea, which elected a new liberal president this month.

North Korea has supplied Russia with more than 20,000 containers of ammunition, according to a May report by the Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team, a group composed of eleven UN member states.
