Kim Jong Un emphasizes the importance of nuclear war deterrence by the Air Force on its 80th anniversary

(Patria) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un highlighted the role of the Air Force in nuclear war deterrence drills while celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Air Force with his young daughter, state media reported on Sunday, as reported by Reuters.

Photos published by the North Korean newspaper Rodong Sinmun show Kim observing what appeared to be unmanned aerial vehicles and mobile missile launchers, among other things.

North Korea has launched mass production of small FPV short-range drones, as well as larger medium-range battlefield attack drones, a Ukrainian intelligence official told Reuters earlier.

Dressed in long leather coats, Kim and his daughter watched an air show for the anniversary and toured an exhibition of aircraft such as an early warning aircraft that North Korea unveiled earlier this year, state media photos showed.

The country's expectations of the Air Force, which will "play a role in nuclear war deterrence drills," are indeed "great," the state media KCNA quoted Kim as saying.

"The Air Force must decisively repel and control all kinds of espionage and possible military provocations by the enemy," Kim said, according to KCNA.
Kim added that the Air Force will be equipped with new strategic assets, without providing details.
