Kim Jong Un: If the enemy attacks, I do not rule out the possibility of using nuclear weapons

(Patria) - North Korean leader Kim Jong Un stated that his country will accelerate steps towards becoming a nuclear-armed military superpower and will not rule out the possibility of using this weapon if "the enemy attacks".

Kim, visiting the National Defense University at the training ground for elite special forces, said he has "no intention" of attacking South Korea, and that its president, Yoon Suk Yeol, is completely preoccupied with his "blind faith in the strength of his master Washington", Reuters reports.

- Every time I have presented our stance on the use of military force, I have clearly and consistently used the qualification 'if'. If enemies try to use force against our country, the army will use all offensive power without hesitation.

This does not exclude the use of nuclear weapons. Our steps towards becoming a military and nuclear superpower will accelerate - said the North Korean president.

North Korea has been pursuing a nuclear weapons program for decades and is believed to have enough fissile material to make dozens of such weapons, and Kim Jong Un has so far conducted six underground nuclear detonation tests.
