Kyiv: Russia accepted US plan for security guarantees for Ukraine

(Patria) - Russia said during recent talks in Geneva that it would accept the US proposal for security guarantees for Ukraine after the end of the war, the head of the Ukrainian president's office said yesterday.

- In the latest talks, the Russian side, for example, said it would accept the security guarantees offered to Ukraine by the US - said Kyrylo Budanov in an interview broadcast on Ukrainian television, Reuters reports.

Budanov added that Russia has not yet agreed to hold a summit between Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin, although this possibility was previously mentioned by US special envoy Steve Witkoff.

US President Donald Trump has called on Moscow and Kyiv to reach an agreement to end the largest war in Europe since 1945.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky earlier warned that his country is under greater pressure to agree to concessions.

Ukraine is seeking firm, binding security guarantees that would obligate the US and its European allies to act in the event of a renewed Russian attack after a peace agreement is reached.
