(Patria) - Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz said today that “the end of the operation in Gaza is approaching”, reiterating the goals – freeing hostages and defeating Hamas. His words come a week after the end of a brief Israeli-Iranian conflict.
At the same time, according to Palestinian sources, the day was one of the bloodiest. At least 100 people were killed in Israeli attacks, including, according to reports from Shifa Hospital, women, children and journalists. Particularly tragic was the attack on a café on the Gaza coast.
The Israeli army claims the target was Hamas and that measures were taken to protect civilians. The incident is under investigation.
US President Donald Trump earlier stated that he expects a ceasefire soon, but did not clarify the basis for this optimism.
