Kate Middleton announces she has cancer

(Patria) - The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, announced last night that she has been diagnosed with cancer at the age of 42 and is undergoing "preventive" chemotherapy.

Middleton addressed the public in a video message in which she revealed that the diagnosis "came as a huge shock to the entire family" and that she and William "have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family."

- It has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok - she added in the video recorded in the family garden.

The Princess of Wales was last seen in public on December 25, and on January 17, Kensington Palace issued a statement informing the public that Kate had undergone "planned abdominal surgery" at a London clinic.

Her sudden disappearance from public view, as well as the secrecy surrounding her health condition, alarmed many, and various conspiracy theories about the reasons for her absence began to spread on social media.

The public was also stirred by a photograph of her with her children released on Mother's Day. After various theories, Kate also spoke out then, revealing that she "edited the photograph herself."
