Karišik and Hadžibajrić to be transferred to KPZ Zenica today

The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo has ordered a one-month detention for Elmedin Karišik and Seid Hadžibajrić, confirmed Mirsad Crnovršanin, Karišik's attorney. He added that they have not yet received the decision, which they expect on Monday.

- We will file an appeal as soon as we receive the decision - said Crnovršanin.

Rusmir Isak, director of KPZ Zenica, told Faktor that the Cantonal Court Sarajevo informed them that Karišik and Hadžibajrić will be transferred to this prison today.

At the Cantonal Court in Sarajevo yesterday, a hearing was held on the proposal of the Sarajevo Canton Prosecutor's Office to order detention measures for Elmedin Karišik and Seid Hadžibajrić, who were arrested a day earlier in the operation "Start 2", due to the risk of repeating the criminal offense.

At the hearing, prosecutors stated that the investigation has been ongoing for about 11 months, in which Elmedin Karišik is charged with the criminal offense of organized crime, giving gifts and other forms of benefits, giving rewards, false testimony, abuse of authority, and money laundering. Seid Hadžibajrić is charged with organized crime, money laundering, and receiving rewards or other forms of profit for influence peddling.

Seid Hadžibajrić, son of the dismissed mayor of Stari Grad municipality Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, his father Ibrahim, and Elmedin Karišik, owner of the company Plaza Group, as well as the company itself, are under investigation on suspicion of organized crime related to illegal real estate trading in the area of Stari Grad municipality.

This is a new investigation, launched based on a new report from the police agency, covering these three individuals and one legal entity, i.e., the company.

In May last year, as part of the operation "Start", the then mayor of Stari Grad municipality Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, his son Seid, Karišik, as well as the secretary of the municipality Alma Destanović, and Mustafa Dedić and Emina Rogo were arrested.
