Karadžić must receive a life sentence!

Today, the presentation of additional arguments began at the Hague Tribunal following the closing arguments of the Prosecution, which charges Radovan Karadžić with genocide in Srebrenica, the siege and shelling of Sarajevo, war crimes and ethnic cleansing of civilians of non-Serb nationality, as well as the capture and use of UN soldiers as human shields during NATO bombings in 1995, writes the BH news agency Patria. 

In the final exchange of arguments between the two sides, the Prosecution and the defense, special attention will be paid to the Prosecution's request for the accused to be sentenced to life imprisonment.

Prosecutor Alain Tieger reiterated what guided the Prosecution and what evidence was presented to the court, thus requesting the strictest, life sentence.

Karadžić has largely defended himself throughout the proceedings so far, but his legal team did assist him during his closing statement last week.

After today's address to the court concludes, the Chamber will withdraw to render a verdict, which is not expected before mid- or late next year.
