Kaplan was not "aware" that he took 25,000 KM from the budget

Salmir Kaplan, Minister of Culture and Sports in the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, is grateful to the Center for Investigative Journalism for pointing out the ministers' receipts for separate living, even though they perform their duties in their places of residence, writes the Bosnian news agency Patria.

In a statement to CIN, Kaplan explained that he bought an apartment in Sarajevo, until then he was a tenant, and then said that he would check with the secretary of the Commission what and how much he had received illegally and return the funds.

- Nothing controversial. It's not a bogeyman. Congratulations. Those 600 or 300 KM don't change anything essentially, so there is no reason for me to fight for compensation that I am not entitled to - said Kaplan.

He explained that the apartment in Vogošća, which is his property, has been used by him since 2011.

As previously reported by CIN, Minister Salmir Kaplan received 600 KM per month for accommodation in a city where he owns an apartment. Over a period of nearly four years, he received 24,900 KM from the budget of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FBiH) on this basis. That is more than a quarter of the sum he paid for the private apartment, bought in the Sarajevo neighborhood of Vogošća five years ago.
