Dragan Vasiljković, better known as Captain Dragan, and Dragan Paravinja, who is on trial for the murder and attempted rape of the minor Antonija Bilić from Drniš, are sharing a prison cell, reports the Patria News Agency.
Paravinja was transferred from Zagreb to Split prison at the beginning of the year, according to Croatian media. He was initially placed in a cell with several inmates, and then transferred to Captain Dragan's cell, who had been alone until then, primarily for security reasons.
Citing its own findings, the Index.hr portal writes that the prison administration's assessment is that they would have conflict with their surroundings rather than with each other. In addition to sharing a cell, Paravinja and Vasiljković walk together in the prison yard.
Željko Gulišija, Dragan Paravinja's lawyer, has not received information that his client has been moved to the cell of, arguably, the most famous inmate of Split prison, while Slađana Čanković, Captain Dragan's lawyer, is not answering phone calls.
Vasiljković was recently charged with war crimes against civilians and prisoners of war. The indictment has five counts, and Captain Dragan claims the proceedings against him were fabricated for chauvinistic reasons. The court denied his release in exchange for a five million kuna bail.
