Cantonal Court quashes conviction of Mirsad Kukić in 'Bosna' case, orders retrial

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo has quashed the conviction of Mirsad Kukić in the “Bosna” case.

As Istraga.ba reports, a retrial has been ordered.

By the quashed conviction, Kukić had been sentenced to one year in prison for party-based employment.

We recall that at the end of last month, in the same case, former SDA Secretary General Amir Zukić was sentenced to three years in prison by a non-final verdict. The Municipal Court in Sarajevo also found former Executive Director of Elektroprivreda BiH Esed Džananović guilty, who was also sentenced to 3 years in prison. Safet Bibić was sentenced to six years in prison on multiple counts of the indictment.

Senad Trako and Ramiz Karavdić were found guilty. Trako received a year and a half in prison, and Karavdić two years in prison.

High-ranking SDA official and delegate in the State Parliament Asim Sarajlić was acquitted of the charges, as was Nedžad Trako.

On one count of the indictment, along with Sarajlić, Zukić and Džananović were also acquitted.

Zukić, Džananović, Bibić, Senad and Nedžad Trako, Ramiz Karavdić and Asim Sarajlić were charged with illegal mediation in employment, abuse of position, and receiving a reward or other form of benefit for influence peddling. They were convicted non-finally because during 2016 they organized a group through which they found individuals willing to pay money for employment in Elektroprivreda BiH, after which Amir Zukić, using his influence through Esed Džananović, carried out illegal employments in this company.
