SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Representatives of UNDP and the Economics Institute Sarajevo presented today at the session of the Council for Labour Market Reform and Human Resources Development in the Canton of Sarajevo an analysis of the labour market, and solutions for creating an inclusive labour market in the Canton of Sarajevo.
The analysis was presented to the Prime Minister of CS Mario Nenadić, the Minister of Labour, Social Policy, Displaced Persons and Refugees Jasna Agić, and the Minister of Economy Draško Jeličić. During the session, emphasis was placed on the major problems of the labour market in our country, including in the Canton of Sarajevo.
These problems go far beyond incentive schemes and grant support. It is about the inadequate supply of labour: the labour force and capacities created by schools and faculties in this country are not aligned with the actual needs of the labour market.
Therefore, it is necessary to change several key things related to the education, labour, and economy sectors, it was emphasized, among other things.
Special attention will be paid to dual education, which means the parallel conduct of education in educational institutions and the economy. After assessing the complete situation, amendments to the laws on higher and secondary education will also be made.
All participants of the meeting agreed that it is necessary to reorganize the system related to enrollment policy, in order to create an adequate approach for the enrollment of young people in secondary schools and higher education institutions.
Through quality promotion of currently sought-after professions, more young people will opt for the education they need to achieve their goals, it was stated at this session.
The currently burning issue we have is the emigration of young people from BiH: if the enrollment policies for secondary and higher education were adapted in accordance with the demands of the labour market, employment and scholarship programs would inevitably bring much more to young people than they currently do.
Because these two segments are not aligned, the quality personnel that our educational institutions produce decide to continue their lives in other countries, these are just some of the views expressed at this session.
Also, very few students have the opportunity for internships. Mostly, their education is based on theory, and they have to gain practical experience after employment, which is practically impossible given that almost every employer today seeks a worker with experience.
On the other hand, employers often need workers very quickly who are capable of performing the required job immediately.
Due to the lack of coordination with the Employment Service, they encounter various problems.
