Canadian Prime Minister: US has changed, we are turning to new partners

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney stated yesterday that Ottawa is changing its direction as the foundations of the international order begin to erode.

- The United States has changed. That is their right, and it is our obligation to respond to it - Carney told reporters.

He admitted that historical ties with Washington have turned from a source of strength into a vulnerability.

He emphasized that Ottawa is now acting "quickly and ambitiously" to strengthen domestic resilience while expanding its global influence.

Carney stated that in less than a year, Canada has secured more than 20 economic and security partnerships by renewing cooperation with "global giants" such as India, China, and Brazil.

At the same time, he added, efforts are being made to deepen relations with the European Union, Nordic countries, and Australia.

- Thanks to this, we are attracting the most significant investments within the G7 Group and are on track to double exports to markets outside the US in the next decade - Carney pointed out.

He also noted that new partnerships are generating orders worth $300 billion for Canadian resources, goods, and expert services.

Carney also announced the establishment of the "Canada Strong" fund, Canada's first sovereign wealth fund.

- "Canada Strong" will allow all Canadians to have a direct stake in building a strong Canada - concluded Prime Minister Carney.
