Truck killed 84 people: Police let him pass because he said he was delivering ice cream

At least 84 people were killed and more than 150 injured, including 54 children, last night in the city of Nice on the French Riviera when a truck crashed into a crowd watching fireworks on the promenade celebrating the French national holiday, Bastille Day. The truck driver was killed, and anti-terrorism units have taken over the investigation, world media report, as reported by the Patria News Agency.

Local media report that the attacker's house is being searched. According to local media, the driver came to the promenade because he claimed to be delivering ice cream, and the police let him pass.

The attacker was previously known to the police due to reports of violence, but security services were not monitoring him.
