Truck from Zenica with 5,000 gift packages stopped at the border!

A humanitarian aid convoy that set off from Zenica towards Croatia with police escort, carrying 5,000 Eid gift packages intended for Syrian children in refugee camps, has been stopped at the border, reports the Patria News Agency.

Bilal Isaković says that the truck with the gift packages has been standing at the Šamac border crossing into Croatia since 3:00 AM this morning and has not yet passed customs control. Apparently, the problem lies with the snacks, chips, and puffs, which cannot enter Croatia.

- As for the volunteers, Red Cross teams, clowns, and media representatives, all of us have been denied entry into the camp with the explanation that a special ID card is required, which they cannot issue to us. It is cold, and we are forced to drive from camp to camp and try to find the best solution - says Isaković.

He further states that the Red Cross and the police do not allow any contact with the refugees, and what they are offering as a solution is for us to unload the truck in their warehouse, and they would distribute it further.

- We have not agreed to this solution at the moment and hope for a more favorable outcome. We gave a statement to HRT and called on the Croatian authorities to help us and facilitate the resolution of this problem as soon as possible - states Isaković.
