(Patria) - The Nevesinje village of Bratač is on the list of the 16 most beautiful villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as part of a sustainable tourism development project supported by USAID.
The stone bridge Ovčiji brod is also located in Bratač - a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina, built in the 17th century, at the site of a former Roman bridge, and it crosses the Zalomka river.
- This river is one of the largest disappearing rivers in the Dinaric Karst, and in Europe. And near the bridge are the remains of a Roman road - says renowned photographer Boris Trogrančić.

According to him, this bridge would perfectly fit into the set of 'The Lord of the Rings'.
- The entire village abounds with stećci (medieval tombstones), mounds, and hillforts from the Illyrian period. There are over 200 medieval stećci from different periods, some of which are exceptionally well-preserved - says Trogrančić, writes Punkufer.hr.
He explains that the horizon of the village of Bratač is surrounded by the Velež and Crvanj mountains.
The Nevesinje Olympics, held since 1875, also take place in Bratač and are inscribed on the list of intangible cultural heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This event features knightly games and horse races, as well as dozens of various competitions such as tug-of-war, stone throwing from the shoulder, and numerous other activities aimed at demonstrating speed, skill, and strength - as well as having fun and preserving tradition.
If you visit this interesting place, you can continue to discover the cultural and historical sights of Bosnia and Herzegovina, such as Blagaj, Stjepan Grad fortress, Mostar, Hutovo Blato...
