Thousands of Zenica residents and other BiH citizens gathered at Kamberovića Polje in Zenica to pray the funeral prayer for five fallen miners: Hajrudin Bradarac, Mehmed Dizdarević, Mehmedalija Halilović, Fahrudin Halač, and Fejzudin Isaković, who died on Thursday, September 4th, in the Raspotočje mine of RMU Zenica due to a rock burst, reports the BiH news agency Patria.
Today's collective funeral prayer was led by the Rais al-Ulama of the Islamic Community in BiH, Husein ef. Kavazović.
"We are sending off to a better world our brothers, fathers, and sons, our miners who gave their lives for our better today and for what is to come tomorrow. Today we are here to bid them farewell as martyrs, because they are. Being a miner is not just having a job, but being in constant service for the good of one's family, friends, country... Today we bid them farewell in sorrow and pain, with the hope that what is to come will be better than what is today and what was yesterday. It is in our Bosniak tradition to say goodbye to each other as they said goodbye every day going into the mine, challenging the life they carried with them," said Reis Kavazović.
After the collective prayer, individual funeral prayers will be held and burial will take place at the local cemeteries: Vrselje, Ponirak, Poratje, and Prašnice.
This morning at 11:00 AM, a commemoration was held at the Bosnian National Theatre Zenica. Today is a Day of Mourning in the FBiH.
