(Patria) - Former US Vice President Kamala Harris, whom the Democratic Party nominated for president in 2024, said yesterday that she is considering running for president again in 2028.
Harris, who appeared at a meeting of the National Action Network, Reverend Al Sharpton's civil liberties organization, was directly asked if she would run again.
- I could, I could. I am thinking about it, I am thinking about it - said Harris, to applause from the audience at the event in New York.
Harris added that she would consider a possible candidacy in the context of who could do the best job as president of the "American people" in 2028.
Harris, who was vice president in the Joe Biden administration, lost the 2024 presidential race to Donald Trump, who won both the popular vote and the Electoral College.
Previously, she served as a US Senator and Attorney General of California, among other duties.
In 2020, she unsuccessfully attempted to win the Democratic Party's presidential nomination.
In 2028, Harris could face challenges among voters who have indicated in polls that they want to see new leaders in the Democratic Party after losing to Trump.
Several potential Democratic candidates participated in the National Action Network convention, including Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, former Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg, and Illinois Governor JB Pritzker.
